After months of waiting I finally present to you:

Alternatively, if you want an r21-friendly version of the pack, .

Unfortunately, because of the nature of this pack, nothing is r23-friendly. Sorry about that.

Now, the main question you probably have is "What is this pack?" From my experience, most people really don't know what Makina is. Straight from wikipedia, "Makina is a sub-genre of techno, originating in Spain. Similar to UK hardcore, it includes elements of bouncy techno and hardtrance. The sub-genre is characterized by a fast tempo (from 150 to 180 BPM), bass kicks and catchy melodies." A good way to describe it would be Spanish happy hardcore, however there are some elements that make it unique. To further elaborate on this definition, most Makina music is in the range of 170-180 BPM (well, good Makina that is) and a Makina song under 6 minutes is very rare. Obviously the genre hasn't been stepped much so I'm trying to bring it into the light.

The length of the songs and nature of the steps are what give the pack the Marathon element, as the files range from 6 to 8.5 minutes in length and all but one expert chart have over 3000 steps. These are all pretty brutal stamina files for their difficulties and will hopefully help you push yourself to the limit.

There is a text file with a little bit more technical details of each of the songs than the descriptions below in the download, however in this thread I have broken down files by difficulty (to the nearest 10th of a block rating), length, steps (not including jumps), and average step density in steps/second.

There are 15 files total. Each file contains an expert chart, however as some of these files have drills, for those I have included hard charts replacing the drills with more 16th notes. This did not effect the difficulty for any of the files except for one.

The breakdown of expert difficulties is as follows:

14: xxx
15: xxxxxxxx
16: xxx
17: x

Here is the song list:

Another Day by Victor Ronda and Albert TT
172 BPM
Length:
6:13
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 15.2 - 2924 steps, 7.84 steps/second ASD
Expert 15.3 - 3041 steps, 8.15 steps/second ASD

This file is in a way unique to the rest of the songs. While one of the less dense songs in the pack, there is still a large volume of stream, with 2 large breaks in the song. What makes this file a bit different from the rest is that in the areas that aren't stream the expert chart contains mini-drill sections that are pretty physically taxing.

The hard chart is the same as the expert except the drills are replaced by towers and some parts had to be mirrored. Both charts are equally fun, however this file actually contains the most 24ths in the pack, so if that isn't your thing I would highly recommend playing this on hard. Also, to anyone who had the beta of this pack, this file has gone through the most revisions since the beta, so I would highly recommend taking a look at it again.

C++ by M-Project
170 BPM
Length:
6:11
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 15.6 - 3395 steps, 9.16 steps/second ASD

While a lot of people know about M-Project in the rhythm game community, many people don't know that he makes a lot of Makina and is probably the most prolific Japanese Makina DJ. As one of my favorite songs by M-Project, I was very exited to step this song.

This chart is one of my personal favorites in the pack and one of the most played by others, I can say I'm really happy about how this turned out. This is a pretty rough 15 in my opinion. This file is an absolute stream-fest at 170 and only has 2 noteworthy breaks in the song with the rest being stream (or basically stream). The patterns are medium in difficulty, making it pretty physically demanding.

Clap Your Hands by DJ Darko vs DJ Villyz
170 BPM
Length:
8:01
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 14.8 - 4206 steps, 8.74 steps/second ASD

Out of all the files in the pack, this one is definitely the one that has been played the most by everyone. This file is again one of my favorites in the pack and I'd highly recommend it for anyone at the 14/15 wall. It starts off pretty chill and gradually gets harder until reaching a 32 measure run right before a very long break. After the break it is pretty relentless for a 14, however the patterning is pretty easy. After another 32 measure run things begin to ease up in terms of difficulty. I originally rated this a 15 based on the amount of steps and density, but after playing it many times I am pretty certain about this not being one. I know people who agree with me and some who don't however.

174 BPM
Length:
7:06
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 14.8 - 3741 steps, 8.78 steps/second ASD
Expert 15.0 - 3829 steps, 8.99 steps/second ASD

Thank you Jason (Gazebo) for helping me fix the patterning in this.

Again, one of the more unique files in the pack, this is the only file where drills are really a factor into the overall difficulty of the song. While this file definitely has the lowest volume of stream compared to the rest of the 15's, the file is pretty relentless in the way that the notes don't stop coming. What makes the expert a 15 is the close proximity of drills in the second half of the song. As Gazebo helped fix up the chart, some of the patterning is pretty unique to the rest of the pack as well.

The hard chart replaces each drill with two towers. This and Another Day are the only files in the pack in which I find the hard chart equally if not more fun than the expert.

El Vagabundo by Double Fantasy
177 BPM
Length:
7:51
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 16.6 - 4435 steps, 9.42 steps/second ASD

While this is the least dense of the Makina Marathon 16's, it is by far the hardest. It starts out pretty easy, however the patterns get significantly harder as the song goes on. Currently the patterning (and the chart itself) stand at the second hardest in the pack, after Sukure. It is the longest of the 16's and the fastest song in the entire pack, so the streams really tire you out more than the other songs.

This is one of the few songs in the pack that I have a video for. Big shoutouts to Krushrpants for making one (and for demolishing my WR of 84 lol).

Kyoto by Xavi BCN, Ruboy, and Oscar Elemento
172 BPM
Length:
6:24
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 16.2 - 3864 steps, 10.0 steps/second ASD
Expert 16.2 - 3878 steps, 10.1 steps/second ASD

Kyoto is probably my favorite Makina track from this release. It is seriously the most catchy song ever. As for the chart, it is another stream fest. After a pretty unique 24th burst stream section and the break that follows it, the song dives into a 68 measure stream with medium difficulty patterning. Following this, the song doesn't really easy up as there are literally minutes more 16 measure streams in a row until you finally get a 8 measure break. Besides that one small break, however, the rest of the song is basically all stream. While that sounds intimidating, this is probably the easiest of the 16's as the patterning isn't too hard.

The hard chart and the expert chart are basically the same except the hard chart replaces the two drills in the expert chart with candle stream. In all honesty, since the hard chart still contains the 24th bursts in the stream for the two streams that have them, the hard chart is a bit pointless. I'd highly advise you play the expert :D

La Luz by Alex Laser and DJ Lobo
170 BPM
Length:
8:24
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 15.5 - 4275 steps, 8.48 steps/second ASD
Expert 15.5 - 4335 steps, 8.60 steps/second ASD

Another one of my favorites in the pack, La Luz is an awesome song with an awesome chart. This song is notable as the longest song in the release, and seeing as a requirement to be in this pack was to be long, that is saying something. The reason why this song has such a low step density when compared to the others is that the beginning starts off pretty slow in terms of stream, but like other Makina song it builds up pretty intensely. The second half of this song is absolutely brutal. The streams alternate between easy and hard patterning and I would probably say that this has the third hardest patterning as of this release.

The hard chart is the same except all the drills are for the most part replaced with candle stream. There is one that is replaced with staircases as they go better to the song and the mini-drills in the break are replaced by rolls. I honestly think the drill chart is a lot more fun, but then again I like drills at 170 more than most people.

Image
Paranoid by Xavi BCN, Ruboy, and Oscar Elemento
171 BPM
Length:
7:01
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 15.7 - 4102 steps, 9.30 steps/second ASD
Expert 15.9 - 4184 steps, 9.49 steps/second ASD

This is the song that got me into Makina a while back. This song is another one of my personal favorites in the pack. The chart to is incredibly brutal. As of this release, I would say that it is the hardest 15 in the pack. The only other song that comes close is The Reconnection, but in my opinion this is harder. The patterns in this alternate between easy and hard and the drills come at times where you are probably exhausted so they factor into the difficulty a little bit.

The hard chart replaces the drills with candle stream and the 24ths with rolls in the little bursty section near the beginning. This drops the difficulty down a little bit but on either difficulty this song is pretty brutal.

Remember the Feelings! by DJ Darko vs DJ Villyz
170 BPM
Length:
6:34
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 14.6 - 2830 steps, 7.18 steps/second ASD

This song is the easiest in the pack. It has the lowest step density and the lowest step count. It is also notable of the only song I actually cut for this release. There were 32 more measures of 8th notes at the end, which actually had the file above 3000 notes, however that was way too boring.

The file starts out immediately with the hard part and stays pretty hard for a 14 for a little bit, however after that you get an extremely long break section. After that, there is another hard section in the middle and the rest of the chart is a piece of cake. This file is really awesome and I used it as my warm-up for a little while.

Image
Skroll by Ray and Suly
175 BPM
Length:
7:28
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 15.5 - 3861 steps, 8.62 steps/second ASD

Ray and Suly are pretty different in terms of the Makina they make, but Skroll is a pretty epic song. The chart starts out pretty quickly with a 32 measure stream. After a small break and a little bit more stream, there are some triplets (they actually are supposed to be 14ths but I am not going to stoop to that level) that lead into a really long break. Once that is over however, the chart gets pretty relentless. The patterning gets significantly harder and doesn't really stop. There is also a cool hold doublestep section that is pretty different than everything else. Also, I'm really proud of these graphics :D

Also, I have no idea what goes on at the end of the song... I think it is weird too.

Image
Sukure by Alex Laser and DJ Lobo
175 BPM
Length:
8:10
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 17.1 - 5119 steps, 10.4 steps/second ASD

This is the "boss song" of the pack. While many people think it is impossible for a file at 175 to be a 17, I'm fairly confident that Sukure is over the cutoff. With an extremely high step density for 175 (higher than anything in Pendulum) over the course of 8 minutes with the hardest patterning of any of the charts in the pack, this file is absolutely brutal. This is also the only file I haven't passed at the moment. I've gotten around 70% through, but my legs just locked up.

This is another one of the few I have on video. Again, thank you Krushrpants!

Image
Teknology Dominator by Kubik
175 BPM
Length:
7:00
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 14.9 - 3245 steps, 7.73 steps/second ASD
Expert 14.9 - 3261 steps, 7.76 steps/second ASD

This was actually the song that made me start this pack. I actually had this stepped much earlier but that was when I was stepping M@@VE and I really didn't know what I was doing. This file has definitely gone through the most revisions compared to the rest (7 to be exact).

A lot of people tell me this is a 15, but I would disagree, just because I passed a harder version significantly earlier before my first 15. Basically there are two 48 measure runs, one near the beginning, one at the end. This is a good 14 for those at the 15 wall.

The hard chart just replaces the two drills in this song with 16ths. I honestly don't see why you would need to do that...

Image
The Goods by Alex Laser and DJ Lobo
170 BPM
Length:
6:34
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 16.2 - 4007 steps, 10.2 steps/second ASD
Expert 16.3 - 4066 steps, 10.3 steps/second ASD

Not only is this one of my favorite songs in the pack, but this is my favorite 16 as of this release. This file starts off pretty easily for a 16, however after the first big stream it just doesn't stop. The only break after it gets going is 4 measures long.

The hard chart replaces all the drills in the stream with candle stream. It doesn't make it much easier though... I like the expert chart, but that might just be because I like drills at this speed a little bit too much. This is another one where I am pretty proud of the graphics.

Image
The Reconnection by Ruboy
170 BPM
Length:
7:17
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 15.8 - 4186 steps, 9.58 steps/second ASD
Expert 15.9 - 4264 steps, 9.76 steps/second ASD

This file is hard. When I was stepping it I really didn't expect it to have this much stream but that's obviously what happened. This is the most dense of the 15's and one of the hardest (second to Paranoid in my opinion).

The patterning gets gradually harder as the song goes on and the breaks seem forever apart. The differene between the expert and hard is that most of the hard chart replaces the drills with candle stream. There are still tiny bursts of 24ths throughout the song however. I like this song on expert :D

Image
World Is Blind by Toni M
170 BPM
Length:
7:04
-----------------------------------------------------
Expert 15.3 - 3405 steps, 8.03 steps/second ASD

The song has deep messages yo. Toni M is actually one of my favorite Makina artists, I kinda regret not including more of him in this pack... This file is really fun. As the track is a bit different than the rest, it offers more variety to the rest. I went all out on the anchor runs for this song, they just fit so well...

I actually have a video of me doing this:

So that's all I have about that. I really hope you enjoy the release. I know that 15 songs doesn't seem like much, but when they are all this long it takes a pretty long time to step them. I hope there will be another installment of Makina Marathon in the future.

Shoutouts to Pittsburgh ITG and Nickel City ITG. More specifically, thank you Tom (Janus5k), Tony (TigreChino), Jeff (Twig), Tyler (TYLR), Jason (Gazebo), Dana (Sphinctus), Rick (MP3), Bryan (Krushrpants), James (JHP), Kyle (RiOdO),
and Brandon (NBCrescendo) for playing my charts and giving me feedback on them. Tom and Tony probably played my charts the most out of anyone besides me, so they have to get a special thanks. Also, Krushrpants made videos and I especially appreciated that. You guys were a great help in getting this done.

Also, shoutouts to Ian (Archi) as I pretty much stole the format of this release thread from him.

-----------------------------------------------------

Oh. This thing.

100 x 100 Makina Marathon
170-177 BPM
Length:
79:43
-----------------------------------------------------
Hard 18.4 - 42412 steps, 8.87 steps/second ASD
Expert 18.5 - 42760 steps, 8.94 steps/second ASD

11/15 songs in this pack came from the Makina compilation 100 x 100 Makina, so this course consists of those files in the order they appear on the compilation.

I would highly recommend you try this on hard if you ever feel like attempting it. Drills make the life bar a lot more variable and if you are tired (which I assure you you will be at some point) then you may accidentally fail. That would be bad on La Luz or Teknology Dominator, which have some drills. Other than that, just be safe. Drink water beforehand, maybe drink some in between songs. This scale of stamina marathon hasn't really done before. Considering it contains 3 16's and a 17 and no break songs, this definitely can be dangerous.

Shoutouts to Tom (Janus5k) for actually giving me the idea of including a marathon in this pack and shoutouts to the brave souls who pass this on any difficulty (if there ever are any).
