Re: Post Your Computer Specs
Updated since. Primary PC OS: Windows 8.1 Professional (well, for the time being anyway). RAM: 12GB DDR3 1600 CPU: Intel i5 4690k @ 3.5 Ghz (I just let turbo boost do its thing, thing blows my old Phenom II out of the water) HDD: 128GB Kingston HyperX SSD, 2 x 500GB WD Blue 7.2k RPM SATA Hard Drives...

Re: Desktop Thread
I have some Windows virtual machines for work. But otherwise, all my systems are running a Linux distro of some sort these days. :)

Re: SM5 beta 4a: Why?
I got most of the story from Kyzentun when I asked about it last. Its not that they don't care about non-dev made themes. Its more to do with the fact that errors in the newer lua-enabled themes were causing gross numbers of crashes and they had to put in lots of work to stabilize the theme engine s...

SM5 beta 4a: Why?
Today I updated Stepmania to SM5 beta 4a as it wouldn't run anymore. This was due to a few packages getting updated on my system, so it needed a rebuild. Man I wish I read the SM forums ahead of time... I know it has been out for a while but typically I don't update Stepmania unless something breaks...

I'd join up, but I have a feeling language could be a barrier. I know no Chinese whatsoever.
But I have a huge pile of touhou tracks so I'm sure we'll cross paths someday online. :)

Re: Help with recorders.
Your best option would be to do what Izzy mentioned. Really. XSplit is rather CPU hungry and if you can't get a hook on the game and instead end up doing a window or screen capture it gets worse. If you insist on using XSplit, the best thing you can do is turn VSYNC off for Stepmania. You may experi...

Re: Best Keyboard for Stepmania
I dunno. Personally I've found the newer rubber dome keyboards on the market these days to be a little trickier to play SM with simply because their keys all seem to have less curvature and have a mushy, uncertain feeling to them. The end result for me is on sets I'm less familiar with or generally ...

Re: SMO -> Facebook?
Seems like it would be kind of spammy and redundant, in my opinion. If such a feature existed and someone I knew was using it, and every time they got a high score it posted it to their wall, I'd probably hide all their updates. The redundant part is the fact that you could easily just link to the r...

Favorite game music thread
Whats a general discussion section on a game forum without a thread about game music? So, what are some of your favorites? I'll post a few to start. Unlimited SaGa OST - Battle Theme EX Seriously, if the battle system in this game was even half as good as the music, it would have been amazing. But i...

Re: Index or spread?
I used to only play index, partly because I was struggling through most pad files and I didn't particularly need the extra agility you get from playing spread. Then I started keyboard files. The patterns got difficult and the pace was too much. I forced myself to learn spread so I could eventually e...

One is IDE with a SATA adapter. Used to have them in RAID but I don't t...

Re: Improve forum URL visibility
Alright, I think there is some conflicting css. I'll try and change some stuff. I'm trying to make the post url's be different from the whole sites urls. http://www.banana.com edit: I think I got it working. Hah, it wasn't working until I refreshed the page, but that is much better. :thumb: Thanks!

Re: Improve forum URL visibility
This is true. However, the text color is currently silver, or something similar. Even white hyperlinks would add notable emphasis. At least, better than what is there now.

[Added] Improve forum URL visibility
This pertains to the forums, of course. I noticed the other day that text wrapped in appropriately with URL tags looks the same as regular text elsewhere in the paragraph. Its not a huge deal, except when you want to be tidy and turn a word like this or this into a URL. This means you have to be fai...

Neato. :thumb: If you can find a decent interface for ffmpeg for .NET, you could probably send the image data to a different thread and create videos.
