Stepmania Online

Pretty simple, if you are pissed at someone or want to troll, just spam any room as hard as you can with really really long messages (from the outside chat feature) and it'll crash in seconds, crashing everyone's stepmania with it. It should be an easy fix, just cap the number of characters to like 250 or something and make it so you cant send more than two messages per second.

You are seeing the server uptime reset when this is happening? I checked all the crashes of the server in the last 3 week and every single crash (except one) was due to a known issue with threading and syncing up client starts so they all start at approximately the correct time (a known issue that I have tried several times to prevent the crash with locking).


I have a feeling that its just the clients crashing (not the server) and I am pretty sure this only effects old versions of stepmania clients.

Anyway for now I made it so the web chat won't accept more than 250 characters..

actually it wasn't the clients its the actual online server because when the server dropped it took 20-30 minutes to comeback up and the site also crashed with it.

around this time the day was 2/4/15 around 5:58:55 PM

Thats weird cause before that I couldn't connect to the server before this. Took 20 to 30 minutes as Owen as my witness since i was skyping with him for an hour before the crash.

Well science just got -8 million XP taken away. He definitely intentionally crashed the server and on top of that he was cheating with rate in the past...
