In The Groove
In The Groove
Does anyone play ITG here? I recently started passing 16's and the game is pretty much my life now.
Iwill make this an accomplishment thread if an "Other Rhythm Games" subforum, but there currently isn't so yea...

Re: In The Groove
Yes. ITG is amazing. I am almost done with my itg3 machine. Here is the custom sensors I made
I could do a couple 13's but mostly 11-12's

Re: In The Groove
I never have the opportunity to play it because there aren't any in my area. Either way, I learned to play the game wrong and now I can't do any turns.

Re: In The Groove
I learned by playing...I believe it was Boom Boom Dollar, the version on Extreme 2. The standard chart at the end is just a long 8th crossover. Played that over and over and then played other charts that use crossovers and over time it became a habit. Truth is there's nothing wrong with double stepping though if you play for accuracy and whatnot. At the time I wanted to learn to freestyle so I wanted to get comfortable with turning. It's a matter of how you want to enjoy the pad gameplay I guess.

Re: In The Groove
I have mostly decided that if i want to get better at stepmania that the only way is to completely stop playing DDR songs. I have started playing every ITG song in a row on Standard or Heavy (aiming fo 7-8 step) with C400 speedmod. The only thing i dont like is hands and mines. I think i will some day get used to mines, but hands IMHO are pretty lame.

Re: In The Groove
I wish I could play ITG difficulty songs on pad... I can barely play DDR difficulty songs...
I have tried/passed some ITG songs but no chance on heavy/challenge stepfiles. I recall passing Hardkore Atomic on medium though.
...Eh, I mostly do it for the exercise anyway. Maybe if I lose more weight, I might be able to some day.

Re: In The Groove
Well honestly i think that ITG has a more gradual step progression than DDR. There is less deviation between on 8 foot song and another and this is true for most step levels. Just keep at it and you will get better. One thing that really helped me was having a pad that i could play shoes or no shoes in. This allows you to play with the added weight of shoes then go bare foot for really hand songs. I use to know a guy that played with 5 pound ankle weights...thats hard core/
Re: In The Groove
Summer speedy mix difficult was about as best as I could do. I also passed uber rave on pad once. I would have practiced more but not being able to do crossovers really demoralized me. I would never be able to play accurately so I pretty much gave up on trying to get good at it and only played for fun.

Re: In The Groove
I have "In The Groove", "In The Groove 2", "In The Groove 3", "In The Groove Rebirth", "In The Groove Rebirth 2" and the hardest song I know of is a 15 which is SUPER NUTS.
According to the makers of "In The Groove" the game is supposed to be played with one foot stepping in the center of each panel and using one foot to hit multiple arrows or hands is cheating.
I've always enjoyed the charts, they are well designed if you perform all the turns but I think it's sad that people consider foot wobbling on brackets as fair-game, sure you get a decent score on a song that isn't humanly possible but gone is the enjoyment of the step-chart the way it was created and the incredible physical challenge associated with passing a super-challenging chart like Summer ~Speedy Mix~ (that's the hardest proper ITG song there is).

Re: In The Groove
In The Groove relevant to 2013 is the custom content created by the community. You are free to think whatever you want, but just know that a significant portion of the ITG community would disagree with you completely. (I'm sure you know this though, as I saw the Tsunamix III thread). Also, I wouldn't treat ITG 3, Rebirth or Rebirth 2 as anything really official. I'm 99% sure the developers weren't involved with the rebirth series. I wouldn't call them proper charts. Also, with regards to bracketing and mashing the pads, I know people who pass 17's with the same footwork that I see in your videos. I'm also not doubting the creators said that, but can you show me where? I want to see that interview/statement.
On a semi related note, I don't bracket things. In fact, my footwork is like this whether it be 140 or 200 bpm (I Have a Bad Case is 191) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cc6WU7rlfec. Form is actually something I need to work on.
