What is everybody's opinion on the megaupload site, mega? After reading a bunch of threads on /g/ for the past few days it seems like half of the people are people all tin foil hat about this site.
It seems like the site is finally allowing me to upload things now.

It seems to be ok, but I generally have a distaste for uploading sites. I find it much more easy and reliable to just upload something to your own domain...

That doesn't really help when you are trying to download from other people.

Honestly, I'm not surprised that this would be back. Megaupload's "defeat" against the U.S was a little ridiculous in my opinion. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised that the courts released what's his name. Same thing of what happened to my friend really. U.S Calls it Pirating, while everywhere else (I'm presuming) calls it "sharing", not to mention theoretically he didn't "upload" or "download" anything.
But anyways, enough with that. I hope this site stays up. I remember IcyWorld spending days, if not, weeks uploading files to mega upload. Best part was, even on a free account, download speeds were really good. I look forward on using this file-sharing place. =)

I'm waiting for the fallout to...fall out before I start uploading Stepmania stuff there. I think people who believe that Mega will end up being more secure than other filehosts are deluding themselves.

I wrote an entire article about this for a college news site when I first heard about MEGA (, if you're interested). I'm in support of it and I think now would be the time to migrate your files into it if you're a user of Mediafire. Mediafire is beginning to remove RAR files that are in parts from people's folders and they're starting to block content as well. Recently my Rhapsody of Fire SM pack mirror in my Mediafire folder was blocked because of copyright. I'm starting to take this as a red flag and I'll be using MEGA from here on. Seeing that New Zealand has a lot more freedom than the US MEGA will probably be the most reliable file sharing website in the coming months. Don't be intimidated by the takedown from last year, Kim Dotcom learned his lesson and he's made a pretty foolproof plan this time. Seeing that he's hosting it in NZ and considering he won a lot of favorable decisions through NZ courts in the past even the US is going to have to make a lot of leaps and bounds to attempt to take down MEGA.

I am very upset with mediafire because they suspended my account due to poronography. What kind of stupid policy is that? So I sent a customer service email and they said it is against the rules because it takes up too much their bandwidth.
Really? You block something on a file sharing website because it uses bandwidth? That is what your business is built on you cheap bastards. What's next? Blocking music because it uses too much bandwidth?

I use my file lockers for insignificant content, like simfiles, packs, random stuff. But man, if you're gonna host pornography I'd go with torrenting lol.

I generally consider torrenting for large collections of things. Mediafire was convenient for small things such as a 10mb folder or less which is basically every doujinshi that I have.

ah ok. for stuff like that i'd probably dropbox it, not sure if they have a policy on porn tho. there's so much doujinshi out there anyway, you could always look for new stuff haha. pant.su alone probably has close to a TB of stuff in torrents and DDL's
