I understand that this may be hard to implement BUT:

I remember a huge annoyance for me was not necessarily lacking a song that one wanted to play but having a song with different steps/different cuts of the song (so one person would end up having to wait for the other to finish). Would it be possible to implement some sort of script that checks if the two user's .sm files for a certain song selected the same steps?

Also, this one is a way more difficult to implement suggestion, but get rid of lacking in general by somehow being able to "stream" the other person's steps if they both do not have them.

No, there is no way to do this unless there's a protocol update.

Yeah, I dont think this is something that is going to be possible, then it would only be supported by SM versions using the latest protocals. Typically in game, just ask what pack, and what difficulty.

I am working on a SMO theme for 5.0 that will show the pack name, length, and difficulty when sorted by song title to help avoid this sort of confusion.
