A Rank System For Passing Courses

If this is possible, I'm thinking a ranking system similar to Lunatic Rave 2's dan ranks e.g. 1~10dan, ★★kaiden, and ^^overjoy. There is a series of courses around a certain level and if you clear the said course, you achieve that rank. So for 1dan you would need to pass a course with level 1&2 songs and for ^^overjoy you would need to pass a course with the hardest of songs.
Personally, I think this would be a better way of showing someone's true skill opposed to just a level.
