I'm just wondering why Stepmania 4 isn't recommended for SMO.
Is it just because of the ugly layout or what?
I'm wondering if I should even bother getting SM5,
because I've had SM4 since it came out and have been using it on and off for years without any problems.
What's wrong with SM4 ??

Re: What's wrong with SM4 ??
maybe I'll download it and try it out, I just don't want to go through all the trouble of setting up speed mods and things like that all over again.
the version of SM4 I have has a modded theme where the scoreboard is transparent because of how bulky and ugly it was by default.
I remember there were a lot of little things like that I had to do just to make the game playable, but it seems to work just fine with SMO.
Also, I posted this in the wrong forums somehow, I went to delete it and repost in the proper place, but I had already recieved a reply.
whoops

Re: What's wrong with SM4 ??
It's probably because the vast majority of players stuck with either the latest version, or 3.95/OpenITG). SM5 is currently being updated, and receives bug fixes / admin support / takes suggestions. Anything outside of the latest version of SM5 does not have that luxury, so making the switch is a good idea (unless your hardware cannot support it properly).
In SM5 speed mods are able to be added in with a file called Speedmods.txt (Save\MachineProfile\Speedmods.txt; \Save\LocalProfiles\0000000*\Speedmods.txt). It's really easy to do. Here is what my speedmods.txt file looks like for reference: 0.5x,1x,1.5x,2x,3x,4x,5x,6x,7x,8x,C363,C382,C403,C426,C453,C483,C518,C558,C604,C659,C725
EDIT: moved to proper forum

Thanks, I just downloaded it.
I guess I'll try it out, adding the speedmods seems easy enough, and I see there's a sticky for adding toasties back in which is cool.
