twofold question:
When going into a packs section on indeedengine.com there are the icons B M H E - I guess beginner, hard, medium, expert. There is also EX. What does it mean? Also expert?
What would be the best way to find mainstream songs? Going through indeedengine.com's packs section one by one at the moment looking for authors/bands that I recognize. Then downloading the entire pack from stepmaniaonline, even though I only want a couple of songs. Luckily I have 100mbit, but maybe there's a way to DL individual files?
Is there any script or otherwise that can look at a text file containing a list of songs (from my music library) and do a batch search on indeedengine, or other search engine?
indeedengine + best way to find and DL mainstream songs?

B - Beginner
E - Easy
M - Medium
H - Hard
Ex - Expert
There is a search feature on indeed to find songs by artist and stuff like that. If you want to download individual files, try checking here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/o9t6z8n3gdmg6sz/cuV7Kaurg- but if it isn't on there I can't say there is another way besides downloading the entire pack.

Packs of files are the norm for file delivery in StepMania, but there are still a very select few sites where singles are uploaded (such as or ). Generally speaking, I don't think single files get nearly enough attention for sharing of said files to occur, at least in comparison to community projects such as packs. This makes utilizing them in places like SMO pretty much impossible with others, keep that in mind if you are intending on playing SMO with other people.
I should also note that "mainstream" (probably extremely well known, current, and popular tunes within the general populous where you live) are not stepped very often. In terms of keyboard play, I think a lot of the stuff trending now just doesn't have enough musical intensity to be an entertaining step file (unless it's a dump file, which I've seen a few times). I'm not sure how it is in terms of pad, but whenever I check out pad pack contents, I rarely see mainstream media (someone correct me if I'm wrong about the general lack of mainstream content though). I'm not saying it never happens, but from what I've seen it's much rarer than more intense electronic music.
In regards to a script, no, not that I'm aware of.
I suppose you could type in "name of song - stepmania" on YouTube and see what happens. You might find some random single by someone, and it might have a download link. The quality of these random singles from what I've seen are generally low, so I would give it a watch to ensure it's a halfway decent chart first.

(i forgot to mention that dropbox has 1139 packs on it so there is a good chance it is on there)

Re: indeedengine + best way to find and DL mainstream songs?
I found that the dropbox method was slower compared to going through every pack on indeedengine
So that's what I'm going to do. Currently just starting with D, going to take a couple of hours
.
Also only getting songs that have B, E, or M difficulty.
If anyone is in the same situation and discover this post, I'll gladly share the files.
