Hello everyone first message here.
Just a simple question to see how many people play in spread and how many in index.
I started to play in spread, but now I find it boring (really), and I prefer playing with two fingers on itg customs. According to the scores on smo, most people play on spread I guess.
I don't want to argue on the best way to play stepmania, and I don't want you to convince me that spread is better.

No one will bother to try and convert you, although I am a bit confused as to how you could have found playing spread to be boring. No method of playing is any more or less fun than any other, aside from perhaps being annoyed that you can't play most keyboard packs due to playing methods that aren't spread. Although I guess there are enough pad packs or easier keyboard packs to subside this.

I don't play on easy keyboard pack but in fact I don't know any keyboard pack. But there is a lot of pad pack, and some are songs can be really challenging, so there is no problem.
I find it boring maybe because when you are streaming (while playing in spread), at 200+ bpm, with some jumps inside the stream, it's like mashing your keyboard for me (mashing is maybe a little exaggeration, but you got the idea).

Not to further push on the topic, but you should be aware that there are readily available for download, and probably thousands more that aren't as mainstream.

Also I should point out that not being skilled enough to play 200bpm JS on spread really isn't a reason to find it boring. I for one am horrible at index, but that doesn't mean I find it boring. Sometimes I'll screw around with things like one handed, index, or pettanko for fun, ironically because of how bad I am at it.

I play index and I have been since 2005 so I've become pretty decent on it. I can do jumpstream pretty well

They are both fun for different reasons. I started off index for many years, but I learned spread in order to enjoy most modern simfiles.

I was spread from the start. I could never wrap my head around index. I honestly don't know how any of you guys can play index! Actually you all impress me with your ability to move you fingers around a ton while playing instead of spread where you are stationary.

Houkouonchi forced me to play spread, said we can't be friends unless I switched.

It's been two months now. I do miss index, but I can do way harder songs now.

Mainly spread. I do have a ability to play Index only when I feel like it.

Spread. I used to play an odd variant of spread on the arrow keys where some fingers would switch keys depending on the pattern, but now I just play standard spread on the as/kl keys. I can do index sixteenth note streams up to maybe 180 BPM, but jumpstream kills me, so I don't play index very often.

I mess around in index, sometimes. I've never really seen the point of not playing the hardest files you can, though. Spread is my favorite. :3

I started FFR playing index. Years later, I found out you can play spread... Never went back...

I Play Index Fast Stream, I can FC a stream song with 16-note about 220 BPM
