Find out what rate a score/record was recorded at

I'm currently having a small problem. I'm still relatively new to Stepmania and thus not really good at it yet. Hence I often play files on lower rates, but I don't want the score to be recorded when I do this. I should add: currently I use 3.95 CVS with Staiain's theme (so I don't have the option to not record the score, but that doesn't really matter that much, because I forget switching this all the time anyway). In the stats.xml file I see lots of stats recorded for each song, but not a rate tag or anything like it. So right now, whenever I get a new record or something, it doesn't matter if it's on a lower rate, it's just recorded and I can't really keep track of my progress once I reach 1.0 rate.
So my question basically is: is the rate I'm currently playing on recorded somewhere, or what I used when I played certain songs? Is it maybe there in the newer SM versions if it isn't in the 3.95? Then I'd write some program to watch that file and just delete every recording right when it's done if it's on a lower rate or something like that.
How do you guys keep track of your records when you're playing higher rates I wonder?
Thanks in advance for any hints/suggestions :-)
