Connecting to SMO sends me back to the title screen

I know there have been posts about this problem before but I'm not able to find the solution.

I made an account on SMO's main site and made sure my user name and the name of my in-game profile were the same (which is also my user name in this forum). Whenever I try to log-in, after connecting to 'stepmaniaonline.com' on the "Connect" menu, writing my password sends me back to the title screen. I know the problem it's not the password itself since I deliberately have input wrong passwords and the game does tell they are wrong without sending me back to the title screen.

I'm using SM 5.1 with the default theme if that's of any relevance to the problem.

Sorry for the inconvenience, I'm not sure what the exact problem is except possibly a password misspelling. You could try making an account in game and then connecting to the SMO server without already registering it on the website, from there the first time you login with the account the password you use to login will be your new password for the account and the account will be registered automatically on the SMO website. I know this probably isn't the most convenient way of doing things but it will probably work and you can access the new account on the website after.
