How to improve

I ask this question so many times but I just cant find a way to improve, I practice and practice and I can only do songs that are not that hard with only 1 hand.

I been playing since I was 9 and I am 17 I want to be really good with 2 hands but I cant find the right keys and the right method to improve.

I want to be really good at stepmania and I need your help

I feel like the best way to improve is by playing songs that are much harder than you are capable of. After awhile you can go back to easier songs and they should be very easy.

What keys are the best to play with in 2 handed?

There are a lot of different combinations. It comes down to what is most comfortable for you. Some people play with both sets of keys far apart and some play really close together. Here are some key setups I would suggest trying to see what suits you.

q,w,o,p
q,s,l,p
d,f,j,k

I personally use q,s,l,p because the diagonal layout seems to be more natural when laying your hands on the keyboard.

I suggest you should do spread style (qwop like izzy said) than index since it's hard for harder song like jumpstream / hand stream. It lets you to play the highest level of songs. thrill are difficult on this type

You can do double handed if you want, but some people kind of hate this type (especially if they're lose from double handed player). If you decided to be a Double handed player, just don't admit it
config: w a s d for left and p l ; ' for right
If you can do this style, (jump)jacks is like easy thrill.

Some of the kb combinations seems to be sticky but it also depends on kb model.
Pretty much the standard sets of how to play spread (4k) were already mentioned by speakers above.
Personally i use GH KL which is nice to me as i dont have big hands and my thumbs dont interfere to each other hand.
Also it makes me feel comfortable and stable when i have both hands relatively close to each other :]

I know use df and jk for my keys and I see some improvement and some nots like long thrills, I see really good players in the rooms and I just keep thinking, I so want to be like them so much, how the hell do they get so much combos without missing it. I really want to be like that so badly

Hey, it sure can be frustrating to see really good players play like monsters but go at your pace!

One piece of advice I can give is try to find a reading speed you're comfortable with. For me it seems the logical way to learn the patterns and generally be more precise and accurate. After that you can do faster and faster songs and you'll really see an improvement

I personally use QSLM and JKLM on a French keyboard (I'm French myself). You will ask me why I have two key configurations on my game? just so I have a little trouble on my right hand, I could help with my left hand and vice versa. ^^

With a little practice this style of play (for example on the fifth version, you can play the scores 4 out of 6 partitions, it will then move along the entire length, it is enough just to pay its keys, in order from top to bottom, it gives: QMK(F)D(J)S(H)L(G) * on a French keyboard), the reflex will come when a little difficulty on one of our hands. For me, this assistance has saved me on a lot of songs.

Yeah, it all depends on each individual. I can't play anything straight keyed. Like askl. I have to play like rflp. So, your personal preference will find a good home in time.
