Age when you started playing dance games (DDR, Stepmania)

I'm not talking about how long you've been playing, but what age did you discover/start playing stepmania. I'm actually intrigued.

I was 11.

I started playing DDR at 8.

I started when I was 16? I believe. I'm 23. -_- So yeah. The things you didn't ask.

I started playing FFR when I was 15, and SM shortly after I turned 16. So I've been around SM for about 3 years.

Started playing stepmania in 2001 which would have made me 11. I am 22 now and less than a year to 23 so a bit more than 11 years since I started.

I was 17 when I started Stepmania.

I was either 14 or 15 for DDR. I had heard of it sooner, but I didn't have access to it.

Currently studying how to do 230+ bpm stream and 150+ bpm JS. Skill drop :X

I started playing Stepmania 12 years ago? Give or take 2 years. I started playing DDR when it came out over in the US but I didn't get decent until I was older.

I changed the topic name because I'm interested now in other rhythm games.

It seems to me that a lot of people (as I did) went from DDR to Stepmania. This is a huge problem as I see it. When I started to play DDR, the game was significantly more popular, as people played for the PS2. I feel like losing that gateway hurts the userbase greatly.

A few friends and I used to watch videos from a site called big-boys.com (now Break.com) and I saw this crazy video of a guy playing a DDR-looking game very fast on his keyboard. That video was Arch0wl's AAA of Quasar 1.5x. I tracked the game down to StepMania and I downloaded it along with the rest of the songs the community deemed worthy. That was back in late 2003 early 2004. I was 13-14 at the time.

started playing ITG on pad when i was around 9.. found out about SM when i was 10 years old, i'm 16 now so basically it's around 6 years
