[Can't Implement] download song they lack on Multiplayer.

I think this will never be implemented but why not ask since its just a suggestion but it would be kool if players that join a room and lack a certain song they can just click that song in the client and it will redirect them to the web page so they can download it and reload the song then play it. Seeing how stepmania is improving their development hopefully it can happen then again its just me taking insanely.

This has been suggested many times and I do not think that this will ever be implemented. That being said however, the stepmania online website's download section has more than 1200 packs available for download. If the person who chooses the song you lack really wants you to play it, chances are if they say what pack it is in you can conveniently download it.

All of the packs take up about 180gb. Rather than a HD space issue it is more annoying to load 75,000 songs.

Yes, it will likely go faster with a better cpu, but even with the fastest cpu you can get it will still take a long time to load 1200 packs.

As for the suggestion itself, it is just not possible. This would require a whole new smo protocol to be developed which means an updated client which means no compatibility with 3.95 and openitg.

There are things in development that will make it easier to identify packs for a certain song which will help people pick the right downloads from the downloads page.

Not the exact place for a suggestion, but maybe you could implement something that says the pack name it is in and then checks the download page to see if that pack is on the downloads page, so people can know if it is there or not.

Again, that is client related and would not work older versions. Hopefully soon I will have a feature similar to this done, but not exactly this.
