Index or spread?

Started out on spread but now have been practicing index and I seem to be getting hang of fast streams.

I am an index player primarily. As stated in my simfile thread, I don't understand the flow and arrow placement of spread charts. I can play spread.. kind of. It makes some things easier and other things harder for me.

I guess my playstyle is what BarX likes to call "Spindex". For him that means he plays index but with his hands spread on wsad and 1235 (num pad), two fingers but 8 keys.

For me it means I play index until a stupidly hard part comes up then I switch to spread style mid song until the harder part is over. (My finger placement for "spread" is index and middle finger on the up and left arrow keys and my other hand the same on the opposing keys in a weird crossing-my-fingers kind of way) - 4 fingers 4 keys.

That is basically how I play.

Siempre he jugado index,desde que me inicié en esto del stepmania, y aunque se que el spread es mas completo he ilimitado, no pasa nada con jugar así XD. Juego index pk me imagino jugando en pad simplemente es eso

Index, I'm pretty fast at it, being able to FC 260 streams, but my timing sucks.
I don't like spread because you don't actually move your fingers around, you just bash them on the same place every time.

I play both. I started off with index and started to learn spread. I find both styles fun but currently I stick to spread since I don't have a decent keyboard for index.

Index all the way. I'm about the same level as Guilherme in terms of speed and accuracy, but I'm trying to learn spread too.
blind and jimmymi are pretty much forcing me to play spread >_<

I miss playing index... I was decent back then on index. I played spread files even though I had no idea about spread at the time. xD (However, I could never hit anything. Always wondered how the heck people did this stuff... xD ) I might give it a try again. (Probably gonna suck at it but, I wanna give it a try again anyhow.)

I used to only play index, partly because I was struggling through most pad files and I didn't particularly need the extra agility you get from playing spread.

Then I started keyboard files. The patterns got difficult and the pace was too much. I forced myself to learn spread so I could eventually enjoy some keyboard packs. And now I can, more or less.

When it comes to less complex stuff, though, I sometimes go back to index just because some pad songs are too simple and I end up making more (stupid) mistakes with spread.

I have always played spread. I first learned of stepmania from my sister who played DDR and was playing stepmania on her computer (it looked interesting).

The very first thing I did (seeing her use arrows) was thing, man this is stupid.. why would you use arrows like that as its confusing (it makes sense if you played DDR) and switched the keys to qw[] and thus was spread. About 15 minutes of playing like that the next thing I did was switch from normal scroll to reverse... Been that way every since... except years later i switched from qw[] to zx./ heh.
