Hello all,

I've just wandered in from some random depth of the Internet after finding myself playing Stepmania for the first time in years.

Only bummer is my wrist is just about shot, so I won't be raking up the toasties and super high scores. Not to imply I was ever better than average at this game. But at least with SMO it adds a new dimension of play and I can still have fun.

Oh hi, I didn't notice this topic here.
I'm GuilherMeziat, or Guilherme Meziat, I'm male, 15, and I've been on stepmania since.. I don't know, 2006 I guess. I'm Brazilian

Yeah, my brother used to play DDR when he was like 14, and he found stepmania, so I basically started playing with him (I was near 6 or 7 at that time). I remember playing with 4 fingers on the arrow keys (something like a mix between index and spread lol).
Then I started sticking to Index, and I got better, passing ITGs 11's and 12's, when I was like 9 or 10. After that I only got better and better and better... Until one day I started getting bored because I always played the same songs (from DDR and ITG), so I abandonned Stepmania (I had stepmania 3.9 at the time) for like almost an year.
When I came back, I found about stepmaniaonline.eu, and I had found out they released Stepmania 4. So I downloaded it and started playing online, finding new packs, faster songs, which made me able to get even better, passing 19's and 20's from Tachyon series. When I was near rank 800, I got bored and stopped playing Stepmania as often.
So, about 7-8 months ago, I found out about Stepmania 5. So I downloaded it and started playing it. Then, a month ago, I remembered about StepmaniaOnline. I tried getting into the european server when I found out it had been taken down and some guys revived it. So I pretty much found out about this website when it was pretty new.
And now here I am.

TL;DR: Only the begginning matters.

/)^_^(\ Hello i'm hugs, i'm 18 and have been playing SM for about 3 years now, I stumbled upon Stepmania when I was searching for vocaloid songs on youtube and I was instantly hooked. Even though I come from a guitar hero background I feel both games have their own aspects of difficulty. I'm glad that the community is back and I hope to be apart of it for a while. Cheers.

My name is Doug, I am an active duty navy logistic specialist and started playing DDR in 2002. I veneer really tried steel mania until recently because I never could get the audio to sync. Now that I am up and running knocking out 7/8 step heavy songs my pad is getting the best of me with tons of missed steps. I will be purchasing a new hard pad soon (specifically the Omega GX) and plan to continue building my smo profile. So far I only play the official mixes but I may start to branch out in the future.

Welcome to SMO Doug. There are a few pad players around, I'm not sure how many play online with their pads but be sure to check out the ITG thread. There are tons of great files beyond official mixes but for the sake of improving it's a good idea to stick to official mixes for now if you're at the 7/8 difficulty level. Let me know how that new pad works out for you though, pad gameplay is a heck of a lot better with a hard pad.
