how come.... you only can download a song if its in a pack?

Well here I download songs from the search box! But I wouldn't download unless it was in a pack! But there are some songs I like but can't download cuz its not in a pack! So I was thinking you could download a song that's not in a pack! Like..... Well ya know

Decently sure that foxfire has stated it's because individual files are a lot harder to track down and host than packs are. That, plus having a glut of different individual files for the same songs could introduce compatibility issues (e.g. headaches for people in the same room with many different versions of a file).

That, plus most files that are worth having are already tucked away in packs; waiting to be found. Just have to find the packs that are in your difficulty range and get those.

Online play is more pack oriented than individual songs. Even with the huge number of packs right now it is often hard to find people playing the same things you are. This would get even worse if people were only downloading individual songs. There are also potential legal issues if individual songs became more easily searchable and downloadable. At least with this one step away from that our site can't so easily be sniffed by people looking for copyrighted material.

The general reasons why I don't deal with singles have already been listed here, however, if you are still interested in downloading single files, there are a couple options:

1) There is a huge repository of pad packs where you can pick and choose single files you want.
2) is a sizable community which allows certain members to host and upload files, which can be downloaded individually. This particular page has a search bar, keep in mind the majority of the content on SMO won't be in singles form here.
3) General online searches can sometimes yield results, if you look around long enough. It doesn't always give you what you want (couldn't find MAX FAILURE outside of a YouTube video), but it's better than nothing.
4) You can, though I wouldn't recommend, cherry pick files from packs by using the to attempt to locate a specific file. Once you find the pack(s), you can download them and take the single file from it, scrapping the rest.
